30 minute Sketch from tonight at the Old Crown

The main spot lights somehow blew a fuse, so the room was pretty dark... had two small spot lights focused on the model -this created extra shadow that actually looked okay. Put biro to paper 5 minutes into this pose with some light marks and progressed to heavier strokes and coloured pen, plus cross contouring and hatching,

I'm quite pleased with this quick sketch, but would have been better to draw this pose over the space of an hour or two. This model is excellent.

30 minute Sketch from last night at the Old Crown

I spent more time not drawing with this pose than drawing, biro and fine liner on paper... the model here has an amazing body for his age -very toned and muscular, basically a yoga body. I could have spent ages drawing every muscle in detail, but instead thought about it more. A one hour pose with inks will be perfect next time I have this model.

Jan van Toorn in discussion at D&AD Presidents Lecture

This photo is completely out of focus, still it tells the story... Teal Triggs, Jan van Toorn, one of his posters projected, people, Mermaid Theatre, London

He focuses on substance rather than smooth stylistic expression and develops questioning alternatives to the usual design world conventions.
